A HEALING JOURNEY
George and I have been part of the Indigenous Ancestral Healing Collective since 2020. The collective includes two tribal coalition directors, two Alliance staff (from Turtle Island/USA), along with Indigenous people from Kānaka Maoli (Hawai’i), Māori Aotearoa (New Zealand) and Aboriginal (Australia) representing subject matter experts, professionals, academia, radio broadcaster, artists and social workers.
We are committed to gaining a better understanding of where we are similar, where we differ, and how the healing of our ancestral trauma can benefit everyone.
The Collective began convening monthly web-based meetings spanning 11 time zones in August of 2020 sharing stories of celebration, hardship, trauma, and healing. The group held regularly scheduled meetings throughout the project period and plans to stay connected after the project ends. The Collective shared how violence impacted their lives, families, communities, and countries. Most importantly, also shared was the importance of modalities used for healing in their life, family, commmunity and country. It is these conversations that are vital for Indigenous peoples to have in their continued journey towards healing and being whole again.
Here we offer a free open-source healing booklet for you to share with your communities. All we ask is that you let us know how it was used and any feedback you may have.
